If a guy lets me pay/wants me to pay I feel like he’s not very attracted to me and it feels like he thinks of me more as a buddy. This probably isn’t true at all, but most girls feel this way. It’s partly due to society and partly that innate desire to feel protected and wanted. I know a lot of men get bent out of shape about girls expecting them to pay, but that’s just the way it is. Every girl who feels this way will honestly tell you it’s not about money and if they could secretly transfer that amount from her bank account to his, they would. There really is a biological aspect to this. It’s observed in nature in many animals. Males audition, compete, and impress females. The females are very choosy about their mates. It’s natural. Don’t fight it unless she tells you to do otherwise.

I’m really shocked after reading the above post and replies. I’m from Ireland and maybe the dating culture here is very different to America, but I’d feel terrible if the guy had to pay for every date. Either splitting the bill or taking every second turn to pay for it is so much fairer. For him to pay for everything, I’d feel that I’d just taken advantage of the guy. There are so many other ways to show that he cares whether small gifts, cooking a meal or just doing something nice rather than taking continuous advantage of a nice guy. I really wouldn’t have respect for a girl who let the guy pay for everything, it seems like she either doesn’t care as much about him or she’s cheap.
